Temple Sangameshwar

A quaint village around 40 kms from Pune is a pretty little place called Vadhu Tulapur. Tulapur is situated on the banks of 3 rivers- Bhima, Bhama and Indrayani. It is famous for the temple of Lord Shiva. In this temple - known as Sangameshwar.

River Bhima

Very few people know about this place and thus hasnt been in the radar of enthusiast weekend travellers.
But people who kno wtrickle once too often to this beautiful little village that nestles quietly away
from the hustle bustle of the city.
The Ghat

I was lucky to spot this place when I was taken there by a friend at Alandi.Though I went with little expectation, I was bowled over by its simplicity and quaintness. The pictures will speak for themselves.

The place holds an important legend. Previously known as Nagargaon, Tulapur is famous for its Lord Shiva temple. Vadhu and Tulapur are two places next to each other. Temple is also known as Sangameshwar. Rivers Bhima, Indrayani and Bhama flow near Tulapur.

Shambhaji, the son of Shivaji was arrested by Aurangzeb and killed here at the temple, Sangameshwar. His Samadhi is in Vadhu which is very near from Tulapur. There is also an idol of Sambhaji in Vadhu.
